Universal Community Afforestation And Water Bodies Protection involves schools and communities in strengthening a sustainable environment and adapting to climate change.
Executive summary
Our story
Founded as a registered non-profit Indigenous NGO in Zambia, UCA grew out of a simple observation: environmental protection only lasts when the people living beside the trees own the work.
Rural livelihoods in Zambia are tied directly to the natural environment. Where unemployment is high, firewood, charcoal and timber become the default income — and forests pay the price.
UCA responds with an action-oriented programme that informs, sensitises and empowers youth and communities to take responsibility for the ecosystem they depend on, and for the generations that will inherit it.
Our long-term goal is a well-informed, environmentally conscious society: one where tree planting, water body protection and alternative fuels are simply how things are done.
