Where we work
A nationwide programme, delivered district by district
Our scope is national for two reasons: water body buffer zones must be rebuilt and protected everywhere, and poverty-driven deforestation is not confined to any single province.
Project zones
Ten provinces, one shared target
Each province runs the same six pillars, adapted to local species, agricultural zones and nursery capacity.

Why nationwide
Two reasons the scope cannot be smaller
Rebuilding water body buffer zones
Rivers, streams and lakes cross every province. Buffer vegetation must be restored along their banks and protected from cultivation and settlement to keep open water sources safe for the communities that drink from them.
Addressing poverty-driven deforestation
Charcoal burning, poor agricultural practice, timber harvesting and low environmental education appear in every district. Working nationally is the only way to reach three-quarters of Zambia with tree and grass cover by 2030.
